Psychological First Aid (PFA) (2 days)

Be ready when it matters most. This 2-day face-to-face training is designed for those in mining emergency response, giving you the confidence and skills to support people at their most vulnerable.
Psychological First Aid (PFA) skills are essential for anyone working in emergency response, as you’re often the first to arrive at critical incidents and encounter people in distress. PFA is calming, emotional support, active listening and assistance, that focuses on providing practical support to help individual(s) impacted by a distressing or crisis event. This training is more than a course – it’s an investment in the safety, recovery, and resilience of both the people you serve and yourself.

This training gives you real tools to make a real difference in critical moments and is mapped to Nationally Recognised Training “PUARCV001: Provide Psychological First Aid.”

Who should attend:

People involved in emergency response in the Mining, Resources or Construction sector, including: Emergency Services Officers (ESO), Emergency Response Team (ERT) members, Medics and/or Security Personnel.

She possesses a clear grasp of the FIFO lifestyle having worked this roster for many years while managing various regional (Pilbara, Kimberley, Goldfields) Employee Assistance Program clinics. EAP type of services including counselling, critical incident response management, Fitness for Work assessment/training, and the establishment of Peer Support programs in the Mining and Oil & Gas sector.

About FIFO Focus

FIFO Focus works to create psychologically healthier workplaces for FIFO workers. Our education and psychological support services are designed to help organisations manage psychosocial risks and develop mental resilience and wellbeing in the FIFO sector.

We design and support proactive interventions to limit psychosocial harm in remote work environments. We partner with employers to build internal capacity to build psychologically healthy workplaces and develop a more resilient workforce. We also offer education and support directly to individuals, including FIFO workers and their partners.

Developing mental resilience is one of the key mitigative factors for FIFO workers and their families. For FIFO employees, learning better ways to deal with day to day stresses and challenges or remote work can lead a more fulfilling and rewarding life.
