At FIFO Focus and PerMentis, the work we do is practical, applied, and often conducted in

complex operational environments.

It’s not just about what people know, it’s about how they apply psychology in real workplaces, with clients, and within teams.

We work with organisations to improve how work is designed, led, and experienced. Our focus is on building psychologically healthy workplaces and strengthening internal capability across organisations, not providing individual clinical treatment or counselling services.

That’s why we take a deliberate approach to how we grow.

Rather than only recruiting when roles become urgent, we build connections early with people who are aligned with how we work, so when opportunities arise, we already know who we’re bringing into the team.

What It’s Like To Work With Us

Our work is about applying psychology in real environments, not just talking about it.

You’ll work directly with clients across a mix of industries, including mining, government, health, and operational environments. That might mean facilitating workshops, contributing to psychosocial risk advisory work, supporting leaders, conducting workplace assessments, or helping shape practical solutions that improve how work operates.

It’s hands-on, collaborative, and grounded in doing the work properly.

Our work is organisational, consultative, and systems-focused. While mental health knowledge is important, the work is broader than individual support or mental health awareness training alone.

We’re a small, values-driven team. That means:

Autonomy

You’ll be trusted to manage your work, but not left unsupported.

Diversified

You’ll get exposure to a range of environments quickly.

Guidance

You’ll work closely with experienced psychologists.

Collaborate

You’ll be encouraged to contribute, not just observe.

There’s a high standard for the work we do, and a strong focus on doing it well.

Our Areas of Work

Across FIFO Focus, our work focuses on:

Psychosocial risk management
Mental health for leaders
Respectful workplaces
Trauma-informed approaches
Leadership development
Team and culture development

How We Hire

We don’t always have roles open.

But we are always thinking about who we might bring into the team next.

All our roles are permanent positions, and when they do open, we prefer to draw from a small, considered pool of people who have already expressed interest in working with us.

That’s why we invite Expressions of Interest.

Submitting an EOI doesn’t mean there is a current role available. It means you’re interested in the type of work we do and how we do it, and you’d like to be considered when the right opportunity arises.

PLEASE NOTE: OUR VACANCIES ARE OPEN TO AUSTRALIAN REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGISTS ONLY.

Current Opportunities

We currently have the following roles open:

We currently have no roles open. Please submit your Expression Of Interest.

Consulting Psychologist
Application Closing Date: Sunday, 21 June 2026

This role is about applying psychology in real environments, not just talking about it.

At FIFO Focus and Permentis, we work in various industries and environments where the focus is on improving how work operates, not just how people feel about it.

You’ll be working directly with clients to deliver training, contribute to advisory work, and support meaningful changes in how work is designed, led, and experienced.

This is not a role where you sit back and learn slowly. You’ll be expected to step in, contribute, and build your capability through doing the work.

Expression of Interest

If there isn’t a current role that fits, or you’re interested in future opportunities, you’re welcome to submit an Expression of Interest.

We’re particularly interested in psychologists who:

want to apply psychology in practical, real-world organisational settings

are confident working directly with clients and facilitating groups

have experience in consulting, facilitation, organisational development, leadership, or workplace mental health

are interested in psychosocial risk management and organisational improvement

are proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working in dynamic environments

want to build genuine consulting capability, not just deliver training.

Ideal backgrounds may include:

General or Organisational Psychologists registered in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Experience working within industry, consulting, operational, or corporate environments

Experience in facilitation, advisory, leadership development, or organisational change work

Please note:

We keep our EOI pool small and considered, and we review it when opportunities arise.
