Sandra Lam is the principal and founder of FIFO Focus. A registered psychologist and organisational development professional, she has over two decades of industry experience in the public and private sectors in Australia and overseas.
Throughout her career, Sandra has developed expertise in improving organisational performance, born from a desire to make workplaces safer, more welcoming and more enjoyable. She has worked in remote locations including East Timor, Cambodia and the Pacific Islands.
Sandra’s qualifications include a Masters in Organisational Psychology (Curtin University) and an MBA (Edith Cowan University). She is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, Australian Psychological Society and College of Organisational Psychologists.
Sandra’s goal in establishing FIFO Focus was to empower individuals to become mentally resilient and support employers to manage the complexities of psychological health among remote workers.
John is FIFO Focus’ Clinical Director. As a Clinical Psychologist, he works with FIFO workers at both
an individual level and with their families. He provides e-therapy, allowing FIFO workers to receive support while they work away.
John’s organisational health experience has been gained as the Assistant Director of the WA Police Health and Welfare Branch and the Mental Health and Chronic Disease Program Manager at the Osborne General Practice Network.
Melanie Freeman is a Registered Psychologist currently completing her Doctor of Psychology. Melanie specialises in workplace safety, health and wellbeing training. Her focus is in the areas of FIFO adjustment for workers and their families, fatigue management, sleep, safety systems and culture, stress and mental health.
Melanie has over twenty years consulting experience and her career has seen her work across a range of industries including oil and gas, mining, IT, finance, government, defence, utilities and not‐for‐profit.
Ruth McLean is a Registered Psychologist who holds a Master of Organisational Psychology. Ruth’s professional background spans Organisational Development, Human Resources, Injury Management and Operational Leadership. She has worked across a wide range of industries including mining, telecommunications, professional services, facilities services, policing, military, federal and state government.
Ruth is passionate about creating workplace settings which enable individuals, teams and organisations to reach their potential whilst ensuring good psychological and physical health for all stakeholders. With a prevention is better than cure focus, Ruth works at a systems and leadership level to assist organisations review and establish improvement plans to enable their visions to be realised.
Sharon is a results oriented, organisational change and development professional with extensive experience in human resources, leadership development, training and assessment, employee relations, organisational restructuring, and employee engagement. With a passion for engaging employees, aligning leaders, building capability, promoting shared behaviours, communication and collaboration, Sharon aims to create diverse, sustainable and safe workplaces with a strong reputation as an employer of choice.
With over 20 years experience in business partnering and HR leadership roles, Sharon has worked within corporate, operational and processing environments in the Mining, Oil and Gas industry, and consulted to the Education and Agricultural/Chemical Production sectors. She has worked in head office and operational environments, and has personally experienced both the remote residential and FIFO lifestyles.
Sharon has a Masters of Psychology (Organisational) from the University of Western Australia.
Shauna is a Registered Psychologist and has recently completed her Masters of Industrial and Organisational Psychology. Having worked with a variety of industries including: tertiary education and research, mining, construction, government, policing, management consulting, and talent management, Shauna has developed an acute understanding of workplace dynamics whereby many of the workplace improvements lie.
Shauna’s passion lie’s with identifying organisational development opportunities to maximise business benefit from both a business and workplace perspective, team dynamics, leadership behaviours, and individual capability. Supporting a business in creating a safe and supportive environment to allow employees to thrive.
Matt is FIFO Focus’ Financial Planning Partner and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®. He has over 12 years’ experience of educating and advising clients on how to manage their money simply and easily, so they can focus on enjoying life. As a former Petroleum Engineer, Matt has an affinity with people in the resources sector.
Matt’s area of expertise is guiding professionals with young families on how to have enough money for what matters most in their life. He is renowned for his ability to make money easy to understand, relevant and engaging.
Ryan holds a Master’s degree in Physical and Health Education in addition to a Graduate Diploma in Science (Exercise Rehabilitation). He has had over 20 years on-site experience delivering physical health and wellness services. Ryan draws from his diverse previous work experiences with elite sporting teams, a strong corporate health and wellness background and several years in the workers compensation and return-to-work field. Ryan specialises in musculoskeletal injuries along with the treatment of various high-risk health conditions such as arthritis, obesity, diabetes etc. and aims to provide optimal exercise rehabilitation and conditioning solutions for his clients.
Christie graduated with a Bachelor or Laws (Honours) in 1998 and has worked for not-for-profit agencies assisting families in both Australia and the UK. As FIFO Focus’ Family Law Partner, Christie works with couples going through separation and divorce, assisting clients to reach agreements in relation to their children (parenting plans) and property and finances (division of assets).
Christie brings a range of skills and experience to her mediation practice. Her work is child focused with an emphasis on the future. By working jointly with both parties Christie provides a supportive and structured process that enables mutual agreements to be reached without the expense and stress of Family Court.
Christie is an Accredited as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner by the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department under the Family Law (Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners) Regulations 2008.
